In four short movements, STATES OF MATTER depicts the classic forms in which matter is observable in everyday life: solid, liquid, gas, and plasma. Originally written for unaccompanied tuba, this work is an exploration of the bass clef and the instruments from which I, as a violinist, felt most separated by distance, both on stage and the grand staff.
