In spite of playing violin for most of my life, I had never composed a work that featured my primary instrument. With a new 5-string electric added to my collection, however, I wanted to write a piece that would take advantage of the extended range that was now available to me and owning a violin that could play in the viola register proved to be the perfect inspiration for this work and its video. It’s a fun piece for me to perform live and I think it shows off the instrument rather well.
