PHOENIX was commissioned by Ternion Brass members Brianne Borden, Heidi Lucas, and Bruce Tychinski, and composed during the 2025 wildfires in Southern California. In response to the widespread devastation, communities came together with support and action, and the generosity, courage, and resiliency I witnessed was profoundly moving and awe-inspiring. It is this story of resolve and inner strength that I hope to tell through PHOENIX.
